Reading plan
Reading and Writing Curricula
At Tindley, we use Wonders by McGraw Hill. We want all scholars to build knowledge while exploring our world through literacy. Literacy is the key to understanding - across time, borders, and cultures - and will help scholars recognize and embrace the role they play in the world they are creating. Wonders is an evidence-based elementary program that empowers scholars to take an active role in learning and exploration. Our scholars will enjoy unparalleled opportunities to express and assess themselves through reading, writing, and speaking. Scholars will encounter the right content at the right moment in their learning journey to promote strong educational outcomes for all.
Remedial Programs
Despite significant investments in Tier 1 instruction, remedial literacy programs are necessary due to diverse learning needs. Tools like NWEA Skills, IXL, embedded curriculum resources, and school-based MTSS programs help address these needs by providing targeted support and intensive, personalized instruction for scholars who struggle with literacy, beyond what Tier 1 can provide. These programs facilitate early intervention, helping to identify and support students with literacy challenges early on, thus preventing long-term academic issues. Additionally, remedial programs involve educators with specialized skills and resources, offering the necessary support that general classroom teachers might lack. Programs like NWEA Skills and IXL provide ongoing assessment and progress monitoring, allowing for instructional adjustments to better meet students' needs. Furthermore, students with learning disabilities receive the specialized instruction they need through these programs.
