After-School Program

Tindley Summit Academy believes in providing all scholars with a rich nonacademic school experience. Part of that is done by connecting with community partners to offer after-school programming that is not fully academic-related.

In partnership with the Indy Inner City Chess Program, this program will teach Summit scholars the fundamentals of chess while also teaching the following: boost in positivity, improving memory, problem-solving, improvements in cognition, improve brain function, and improves concentration.
In partnership with Asante Children's Theater Zora's Daughter is designed for Summit girls in grades 3-6 to teach them about the rich legacy upon which they stand by celebrating literacy greats. The girls will create poetry, short stories, and spoken work. The Summit girls will have the opportunity to become published authors.
This after-school tutoring program is geared towards all Summit scholars. The tutoring program will collaborate with the school to support scholars in literacy skills of academic vocabulary, decoding, fluency, writing, and reading comprehension. The program will run daily Monday-Thursday from 4:15-5:45 and Friday from 12:30-4:00 pm.
In partnership with ArtReach this after-school program will focus on scholars learning art-making, art history, art criticism, and gain valuable self-confidence and self-expression along the way. The program will meet once a week in groups of K-2 scholars and 3-6 scholars.
Lead4Change is our leadership program geared towards identifying the 6th-grade leaders in our building to meet current and develop their leadership capacity in the classroom and beyond the classroom. The program meets for 10 weeks and scholars will create an action research project. Scholars in the program receive leadership training and community service training.
