The Tindley Model

The Tindley Model Image
Tindley Accelerated Schools, in cooperation with parents and the broader community, will empower students – regardless of their past academic performance – to become successful learners who graduate with the capacity for rigorous college opportunities. Tindley will provide a powerful learning experience that intellectually engages, inspires, and spurs academic achievement through a challenging and interactive college-preparatory curriculum.

Back in 2004, the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School launched to provide a top-quality, accelerated academic experience to urban youth in a college-preparatory environment. Over time, the demand for the Tindley experience became so overwhelming that we opened five additional schools to serve more kids, including elementary school and kindergarten students.
While each Tindley school has its own distinct character, there are consistent qualities within every school:
Accelerated Learning: Each student is expected to work at least one grade level ahead with the goal of selective college admission upon high school graduation.
Extended Hours: Tindley Accelerated Schools schools commit to longer school days, weeks, and years for those needing further academic assistance.
Quality Instruction: Tindley Accelerated Schools teachers are expected to serve students in an engaging, rigorous classroom setting.
Small Size: Tindley Accelerated Schools is committed to a personalized academic setting for all students. We strive to maintain small class sizes for more engaged interaction; no school will be larger than 300-500 students

Principal's Message

Dear Summit Families,

We are entering the final weeks of our Virtual Learning Experience. Our final day of Virtual Learning will be Thursday, May 21, 2020. Beginning May 26, we will have our assessments for scholars to determine.

We may have been dealt an unfortunate hand that our school year within the school building was cut short. We have learned during this time that learning is to confined to a school building. School is not always about the building.

At Tindley Summit Academy, we believe we have worked extremely hard to provide a Virtual Learning Experience for our scholars. We are always taking feedback and we want to hear from you on how to improve our practice. Your feedback is valuable to helping prepare again for Virtual Learning in the event we have to continue this in the Fall.

In the meantime, we ask that you continue to follow our social media and frequently visit our website to stay updated on news with Tindley Summit Academy.

In love and educational service

David McGuire, Principal Tindley Summit Academy
