Tindley Accelerated Schools, in cooperation with parents and the broader community, will empower students – regardless of their past academic performance – to become successful learners who graduate with the capacity for rigorous college opportunities. Tindley will provide a powerful learning experience that intellectually engages, inspires, and spurs academic achievement through a challenging and interactive college-preparatory curriculum.
Back in 2004, the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School launched to provide a top-quality, accelerated academic experience to urban youth in a college-preparatory environment. Over time, the demand for the Tindley experience became so overwhelming that we opened five additional schools to serve more kids, including elementary school and kindergarten students.
While each Tindley school has its own distinct character, there are consistent qualities within every school: Accelerated Learning: Each student is expected to work at least one grade level ahead with the goal of selective college admission upon high school graduation. Extended Hours: Tindley Accelerated Schools schools commit to longer school days, weeks, and years for those needing further academic assistance. Quality Instruction: Tindley Accelerated Schools teachers are expected to serve students in an engaging, rigorous classroom setting. Small Size: Tindley Accelerated Schools is committed to a personalized academic setting for all students. We strive to maintain small class sizes for more engaged interaction; no school will be larger than 300-500 students
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are excited about this school year and all the amazing things happening at Tindley Summit Academy. At Tindley Summit, we value our partnerships with parents, families, and community and we enjoy working with families to help scholars achieve their full potential.
TSA staff truly love working with our scholars and families. We take seriously the trust you place in us by sending your children to our school every day, and we work hard to make scholars and families feel safe and supported.
We believe in setting high expectations of our scholar, and we have high expectations of ourselves to help all Summit scholars learn and grow into well-rounded citizens and critical thinkers who will attend and graduate from college. Here at Summit, we aim to develop our scholars through our 4 pillars: academics, leadership, service, and community.
We are committed to our school being a beacon of hope our community and in the lives of our scholars and families.
Our staff will continually ask ourselves the following question: How are the children? We believe if the children are well the school will prosper.
